
Dr. Asta Partanen is a senior expert at nova-Institute, working for more than 11 years in two departments, Economy & Policy as well as Technology & Markets.
She currently leads several consulting and EU projects. Her work focuses on bio-based materials, cellulose and natural fibres, where she leads projects on promising circular use cases of renewable materials, conducts market research and assesses certification options for circular and bio-based raw materials and materials. Her experience has led to excellent networks in innovative industries, enabling her to build bridges between different application areas and to attract innovators for the Innovation Awards that nova presents annually at its conferences.
She is the content manager for the upcoming Cellulose Fibres Conference and each year finds the best innovations in textiles, hygiene and packaging to be awarded the Cellulose Fibre Innovation of the Year. The next Cellulose Fibres Conference will take place in Cologne on 12-13 March 2025.
She is also the contact person for the “Renewable Carbon Companies” business directory.
Background and expertise
Dr Partanen holds a PhD in Forestry and Wood Science, and her research focused on the market opportunities for innovative Wood Plastic Composites (WPCs) in German-speaking countries. She is a recognised expert in wood, cellulose and biocomposite markets, policy frameworks and social acceptance issues, green premiums and standardisation and certification of biomass and bio-based products. She has co-authored of several leading market studies on bio-based and composite materials.
