Leoplast combines cardboard and bioplastic

Packages are approved for use in Ecocert Greenlife certified natural and organic products

bildLeoplast, the Italian specialist of botanical-derived packaging for decorative cosmetics, has decided to marry cardboard and bioplastics, two renewable raw materials, to design a line called Compostable Make Up.

The cardboard was chosen for the base and the cover while the plant-derived plastic forms the internal mechanism and the cups containing the powders. This results in 100% plant-derived and biodegradable packaging.

“Cardboard is a material immediately recognizable by the consumer. Compared to our 100% VegetalPlastic versions, which look like traditional plastic, it also allows the use of a greater area for printing decoration. Another advantage is that it is a lightweight material thus leading to significant weight gain,” says Marie-Laure Viellard, PR and communication manager at the Leoplast Group.

These packages are approved for use in Ecocert Greenlife certified natural and organic products.
