So simple but so true: By using sun or wind power, combining it with CO2 and water, you can produce almost anything you want or need: fuels, chemicals and plastics, or even food and feed. The new technology platform making this possible is Carbon Capture and Utilization (CCU).

What sounds like a fairy tale from the far future, is already reality: Dozens of so-called power-to-gas plants in Germany use solar and wind power to produce artificial natural gas from CO2, Iceland uses CO2 for the production of fuel methanol, and companies from Germany, the USA and South Korea make plastics such as PPC, PEC and polyurethane based on CO2. In addition to these catalytic processes, the biotechnological conversion of CO2 and CO into chemical building blocks is being intensely investigated.
