So simple but so true: By using sun or wind power, combining it with CO2 and water, you can produce almost anything you want or need: fuels, chemicals and plastics, or even food and feed. The new technology platform making this possible is Carbon Capture and Utilization (CCU).
What sounds like a fairy tale from the far future, is already reality: Dozens of so-called power-to-gas plants in Germany use solar and wind power to produce artificial natural gas from CO2, Iceland uses CO2 for the production of fuel methanol, and companies from Germany, the USA and South Korea make plastics such as PPC, PEC and polyurethane based on CO2. In addition to these catalytic processes, the biotechnological conversion of CO2 and CO into chemical building blocks is being intensely investigated.

Do not miss the largest European conference on Carbon Capture and Utilization (CCU) in 2014: 3rd Conference on Carbon Dioxide as Feedstock for Chemistry and Polymers
Showcasing impressive, dynamic developments in power-to-gas and CO2 to chemicals and polymers.
Haus der Technik (HDT), Essen (Germany), 2 – 3 December 2014
The leading key players and stakeholders in the field will present and share their knowledge and visions. The topics will cover the full range of the CO2 economy: Policy & visions, CO2 capture & purification, H2 generation: a prerequisite for the CO2 economy, CO2-based fuels, chemicals, building blocks and polymers.
++ Already more than 110 participants from 25 countries are registered ++
