Tecnaro GmbH is part of the BBI JU project consortium

European Commission to provide public-private partnership “Bio-based Industries Joint Undertaking” with funding of  10 Mio Euro

Tecnaro GmbH, a company based in the Baden-Württemberg city of Ilsfeld, has been successful in its bid to join one of ten project consortia in the public-private partnership “Bio-based Industries Joint Undertaking” (BBI JU). The European Commission is providing total funding of 50 million euros for the ten projects. The funding is part of an EU decision to invest around 120 million euros into the development of the European bioeconomy.

The major objective of the “SmartLi” project in which Tecnaro GmbH is involved is to develop smart technologies for the conversion of industrial lignins into sustainable materials to replace their oil-based predecessors. The project will explore the potential of kraft lignins and lignosulphonates as raw materials for the production of biomaterials. The project consortium covers the entire value chain – from raw material extraction in pulp mills, the building of machines through to the production of reaction resin and composite materials.

Tecnaro GmbH’s membership in the Bio-based Industries Consortium was made possible by BIOPRO Baden-Württemberg GmbH. Are you interested in getting involved in BBI JU? If so, please contact Marina Boose from BIOPRO Baden-Württemberg for further information.
