More ethanol plants sprouting all over nation

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Ethanol plants are multiplying rapidly, according to the Renewable Fuels Association.

Lincolnland Agri-Energy, a farmer-owned ethanol plant near Palestine, Ill., has begun production, one of six operating ethanol plants in the state. The plant will process more than 15 million bushels of corn into 40 milion gallons of ethanol annually and also produce 128,000 tons of distillers grain.

Construction has also begun on the Amaizing Energy ethanol plant near Denison, Iowa. Iowa now has 13 operating plants and five under construction.

Currently there are 81 ethanol plants nationwide with the capacity to produce over 3.4 billion gallons annually. Ten more ethanol plants are under construction across the country.
