Request to circulate ABATE survey on renewable fuels and residual biomass

The Horizon Europe ABATE project is inviting professionals and stakeholders across the renewable carbon, bio-based, chemicals, materials and related sectors to share their views on the future development of low-carbon fuels for aviation and maritime transport.

ABATE is investigating advanced bio-based intermediate fuels produced from residual biomass and their potential upgrading and co-processing within existing refinery infrastructure. As part of the project, ABATE partners at Imperial College London are examining how stakeholders perceive these emerging fuel pathways and the factors that may shape their future acceptance and deployment.

The survey explores views on the use of residual biomass, sustainability priorities and trade-offs, costs and infrastructure, trust, governance and transparency, and the wider conditions influencing future low-carbon fuel pathways.

No specialist knowledge of ABATE or its technologies is required. The research team is keen to hear from people across industry, research, policy and civil society, including those working in renewable carbon, bio-based industries, chemicals and materials.

The survey takes approximately 15 minutes, is anonymous and will close on the 30 September 2026.
