
Dr. Anke Schwarzenberger is a Scientific Project Manager in nova’s Renewable Feedstocks department since 2025 and is part of the Office Team that is organising the Renewable Carbon Initiative (RCI). Previously, she acted as B2B communication manager in nova’s communication and dissemination (C&D) team from 2022 to 2025, for which she managed C&D in numerous Horizon Europe projects, e.g. 3-CO, BioReCer, PEFerence, PYSOLO and WaterProof. As a former long-standing independent researcher, Anke has broad expertise in scientific working and writing, as well as conference and workshop organisation. Because of her experience in proposal writing and presentation, Anke also supports nova’s acquisition team. She is part of the organisation team and the advisory board of the Renewable Materials Conference.
Background and expertise
Anke is a biologist by training and finished her PhD at the University of Cologne in 2010 on the topic of genetic adaptations of Daphnia to cyanotoxins. In the following 12 years she gathered comprehensive experience conducting research at various universities throughout Germany and abroad, where she worked as a scientist in the fields of aquatic ecology, biodiversity, light pollution and ecotoxicology. In between, she supported the work of the Equal Opportunity Office at the University of Konstanz as a gender consultant for joint scientific research projects. In her free time, Anke still is dedicated to publish peer-reviewed articles on effects of light pollution and other anthropogenic stressors on aquatic organisms.
