ColorFabb's PLA-filament appearing in 3D printed designer shoes

A little over a year ago we were approached by Chris van den Elzen a talented young fashion designer. He was looking for interesting materials to be used in his designs which push the boundaries of shoemaking.

Chris was looking for a filament with a natural texture after printing, after carefully considering various option the material of choice was woodFill, a mix of 70% PLA and 30% woodfibres. Using the Ultimaker 3D printer Chris developed many iterations directly in the material for the final product. We thought his methods of designing and executing was marvellous so together with our good friends at Ultimaker a movie was made about his story.

Have a look at his website for more fashion related projects.
