Aviation fuel, ethanol or plastics – the technology to produce them from softwood residues is ready to be scaled up. At the World Bio Markets trade fair, clean-tech company SEKAB E-Technology present their technology Celluapp, using softwood residues to replace fossil raw materials.
“In order to tackle climate change, Europe will need all available bioethanol that can be produced. Our technology is unique. Through using softwood residues, we can contribute to the phasing-out of fossil raw materials in Europe,” said Monica Normark, Chemical Engineer and Celluapp Process Manager at SEKAB E-Technology.
At next week’s World Bio Markets trade fair in Amsterdam, clean-tech company SEKAB E-Technology will present their patented technology platform Celluapp. It converts softwood residues to sugar and lignin that can be refined into for example ethanol, aviation fuel or plastics. The technology is ready to be employed in plants with a large-scale production. No such plants exist today.
“Using our technology, it will be possible in the future to make bioplastics with much lower climate impact than traditional fossil based plastics. The bioplastics are also biodegradable in soil or water within two years,” said Monica Normark.
The technology platform Celluapp is ready for full-scale operation and is available by licence. Using Celluapp, SEKAB are ready contribute to the design of new biorefineries or develop current plants.
