Making the right choices – where are biofuels headed in Europe?

"Sustainable First and Second Generation Bioethanol for Europe – Opportunities for People, Planet and Profit ", international conference, 26 September 2017, Brussels

The conference “Sustainable First and Second Generation Bioethanol for Europe – Opportunities for People, Planet and Profit” just published its programme. Throughout the day, the event will explore and discuss questions of environmental, social and economic impacts of first and second generation biofuels. Brand new research into the sustainability of different biofuel feedstocks will be presented by high-level science, industry and civil society stakeholders.

“Sustainable First and Second Generation Bioethanol for Europe – Opportunities for People, Planet and Profit” will provide a platform for debate on the pros and cons and put it all in the context of discussions regarding the draft EU Renewable Energy Directive (RED II). The conference will look at whether the RED II proposals deliver on the European Commission’s mandate to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and decarbonise transport.
