Stora Enso has published a climate resilience plan outlining its approach to climate action, target attainment,  and business preparedness for future climate scenarios. The plan includes a forecast for emission reductions across all scopes by 2030.

At the end of 2025, the Group’s Scope 1 and 2 CO2e emissions were 61% lower and the estimated Scope 3 emissions 38% lower than in the 2019 base year. The target is to achieve a 50% reduction in all scopes by 2030.

The climate resilience plan outlines how climate-related considerations are integrated into the Group’s strategy and operational decision-making, as well as Board oversight. As part of this plan, Stora Enso also commits to phasing out coal, which represented 2% of the Group total energy consumption in 2025.

“Our new climate resilience plan converts ambition into tangible actions. Designed to support our climate targets, the plan reinforces the commitment to decarbonisation of our business to enable long-term resilience and sustained value for our stakeholders,” concludes Hans Sohlström, President and CEO, Stora Enso.

The figures disclosed in the resilience plan align with the information provided in the Sustainability Statement published today as part of Stora Enso’s Annual Report 2025. The Sustainability Statement, which is subject to third-party assurance, provides detailed accounting principles for the metrics disclosed in the resilience plan.
