Skyrenu Technologies Inc., a company specializing in CO2 capture2 at low concentration, announces the delivery of a first batch of CO2 captured directly from the air at Secant Fuel, a company developing technologies for the production of synthetic fuels (eFuels) and low-carbon chemicals (eChemicals). This first delivery marks a significant milestone in demonstrating the potential of linking direct air capture to technologies that convert carbon into low-carbon fuels.
Developed as part of a technology showcase bringing together two Sherbrooke companies originating from research at the University of Sherbrooke, this collaboration combines Skyrenu’s modular and low-energy technology to capture CO22 directly into the air using Secant Fuel’s carbon conversion technology. The showcase highlights the potential of CO₂2 captured as a raw material for technologies that convert carbon into fuels and low-carbon chemicals. This technology showcase benefited from financial support from Sherbrooke Innovante, through its Business Assistance Program for the Industrial and Technological Sectors, Technology Showcase component.
“Delivering our first batch of CO22 “Captured directly from the air at Secant Fuel is a defining moment for Skyrenu,” said Gabriel Vézina, co-founder and CEO of Skyrenu. “It demonstrates that carbon extracted directly from the air can become the raw material for the fuels and chemicals of tomorrow. Bringing together two complementary technologies is exactly the kind of collaboration that accelerates the transition to a low-carbon economy.”
“We see a significant opportunity to help biogas producers extract more value from the carbon streams they already have,” said Jochem Kamstra, President and CEO of Secant Fuel. “Secant’s technology converts biogas, including methane and carbon dioxide, into syngas that can be used to produce renewable methanol and other low-carbon products. Collaborations with companies like Skyrenu are helping us explore how complementary technologies could be integrated into the broader carbon value chain as we move toward commercial deployment.”
Skyrenu’s technology is specifically designed for CO2 capture2 at low concentrations, ranging from CO2 present in ambient air from diluted industrial emissions. It allows the production of CO2 Concentrated and high-purity, ready for valorization or sequestration. Skyrenu’s first unit is operational at Deep Sky Alpha, while a larger-capacity system, capable of capturing up to 125 tonnes of CO2, is also under development.2 per year, is currently in production.

About Skyrenu Technologies Inc.
Skyrenu develops and markets modular CO2 capture systems2 at low concentrations, ranging from direct air capture (DAC) to diluted industrial emissions. Based on patented technology, its systems are designed to offer high energy efficiency and facilitate large-scale deployment. Skyrenu was named one of the 20 finalists in the XPRIZE Carbon Removal competition.
About Secant Fuel
Secant Fuel is developing a new pathway to increase the value of biogas. Its proprietary technology converts biogas, including methane and carbon dioxide, into synthesis gas for the production of low-carbon fuels such as methanol. Designed for distributed deployment in landfills and anaerobic digesters, Secant’s technology allows operators to create added value from their entire carbon stream. Based in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Secant Fuel holds an exclusive license for a technology developed at the University of Sherbrook.
