The conference will showcase exciting and successful composites based on bio-based materials on the current market as well as promising future developments. More than 300 participants and 30 exhibitors from industries and science are expected.
Signs for growth of biocomposites can be found in various markets: With the latest advances in injection moulding and 3D printing, biocomposites are of high interest for a multitude of applications and provide a number of new opportunities. For example, furniture and consumer goods have started to offer several options for product differentiation. More and more companies specifically use wood and natural fibre plastic granulates in consumer goods such as instruments, electronic casings, furniture, tables, toys, combs or trays as well as 3D printed goods – the unique look and haptics convey high quality and value and are well received by customers.
The conference programme represents the wide spectrum of innovative applications and material choices available for Natural Fibre Composites (NFC) and Wood-Plastic Composite (WPC): Biocomposites in 3D printing, for structural applications, in automotive applications, WPC in construction, granulates for injection moulding, bio-based thermoset resins and new polymers.
Well known international companies and institutes will be present at the conference, such as Avantium, BASF, Cordenka, Coperion, Covestro, DONG, ETH Zürich, Ford, Fraunhofer-Institute, nobila, Renolit, RISE, SINTEF, Södra, Solvay, Sonae Arauco, Stora Enso, Tesa, TransFuran, Velux, Volkswagen, VTT and Werzalit.
One session of the conference will be dedicated to the Innovation Award “Biocomposite of the Year 2017”, where six nominated companies will introduce their innovation in a short presentation. Afterwards, the audience elects three winners, who will be awarded on the first evening of the conference during a networking gala dinner.
The preliminary programme with featured speakers from both industry and science can be found online at www.biocompositescc.com/programme.
The nova-Institute would like to acknowledge Coperion GmbH (DE) for sponsoring the renowned Innovation Award “Biocomposite of the Year 2017”. “Der Grüne Punkt – Duales System Deutschland GmbH (DE)” is silver sponsor Fibres Recherche Développement (FR) and FKuR Kunststoff GmbH (DE), Linotech GmbH & Co. KG & ParaPack GmbH (DE), simcon kunststofftechnische Software GmbH (DE) as well as VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland LTD (FI) are bronze sponsors of the conference.
The exhibition accompanying the conference is in high demand and 22 companies already booked one of the available booths. Interested companies should request their own booth as soon as possible because of limited exhibition area.
