Partnering with IKEA and the LEGO Group regarding mass balance

The European Commission is currently discussing the definition of mass balance, which will have large impact for end consumers, brand owners and producing industry. Therefor IKEA, the LEGO Group and Perstorp have shared a letter with the European Commission stating our joint position of a mass balance definition. 

We are advocating for a strict mass balance application with chemical and physical traceability. This  makes it possible to find the recycled/renewable molecules in the output product and enables brand owners to make credible product claims. Furthermore such a mass balance is needed to drive a real transition of the industry to break fossil dependence and incentivize innovation and development of new raw materials and technologies needed for the complete transition of products and industry. Mass balance shall never be the end goal, but rather the bridge from fossil to sustainable products.
