Limagrain starts bioplastics project in Brazil

Limagrain Céréales Ingrédients of France has started a project to build a facility to produce biolice bioplastic granules in Brazil. Biolice is a material that uses maize cereal flour as feedstock and which is biodegradable and compostable.

Ennezat-based LCI, which is a division of grains company Groupe Limagrain, is building its plant in Pato Branco, Parana state. The 2,000 square meter factory is scheduled to start operating in the third quarter of 2013 with an annual production capacity of 8,000 metric tons of biolice.
