The first of BIO-TIC regional workshops took place on the 27th June in the Netherlands, focusing on the progress of industrial biotechnology in the Benelux region. The first of a series of regional workshop, the event was successful in identifying hurdles and obstacles to the development of industrial biotechnology in the region and beyond.
Experts in the sector gathered in Bergen op Zoom to contribute to a road-mapping exercise and discuss ideas on how to open the market of the bio-industry in the region. The discussions addressed both technological and non-technological obstacles to the development of the sector as well as significant examples of successful cases and of related European initiatives.
