EBCA: A new alliance to seize the Bioeconomy’s Global Momentum

The European Bioeconomy Clusters’ Alliance is a Reality!

February 10th marks a significant milestone in the advancement of the European bioeconomy! In the heart of the European Capital, Brussels, 14 leading clusters from 11 EU Member States have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish the European Bioeconomy Clusters’ Alliance.

This alliance represents a major step forward in achieving the #BioRevolution, fostering collaboration across borders to drive innovation and sustainability in the bioeconomy sector. The newly formed coalition aims to:

  • Support Research & Development – Encouraging groundbreaking scientific advancements and innovative solutions in biotechnology and bio-based industries.
  • Facilitate Scale-Up & Industrialization – Helping promising bio-based solutions transition from the lab to industrial applications.
  • Build Strong Value Chains – Strengthening connections across sectors to create efficient and sustainable bio-based value chains.
  • Develop New Markets for Bioproducts – Promoting bio-based products as sustainable alternatives to fossil-based materials, fostering green industrial transformation.

With this commitment, Europe takes another step toward a circular and bio-based economy, reinforcing its leadership in sustainable development. The signing of this MoU signals the beginning of an exciting journey to drive innovation, competitiveness, and sustainability in the bioeconomy sector.
