Dow to stop producing synthetic glycerine by end January 2006

The Dow Chemical Company announce that due to market situation, they will stop producing, selling and shipping all grades of their synthetic glycerine from their plant in Freeport, Texas, USA. The production will cease by January 31st 2006. The main reasons for that are that surplus glycerine coming from biodiesel production caused prices to plummet significantly while demand was not sustained enough to cover for the needed plant capital investments.
