DGS Asia Pro Eco Project “Diagnostic Study on Renewable Energy Potential and Feasibility in Southeast Asia”

The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Sonnenergie e.V. International Solar Energy Society, German Section (DGS) is carrying out an Asia Pro Eco project in partnership with Wageningen University in The Netherlands, the Thai Renewable Energy and Environmental Centre (REEC), the Lao Renewable Energy for Sustainable Development Association (RESDALAO), the Lao Community Development and Environment Association (CDEA) and the National University of Laos (NUOL). The Partnership wants to inform local stakeholders and international organisations about the project progress and its result by distributing a quarterly newsletter.

1. Technology Data Base

In the frame of the Asia Pro Eco project a technology database will be created which will be compiling existing biogas, photovoltaic, solar thermal and co-generation technologies for a technology overview. Based on a country survey and the technologies in the catalogue ap-propriate strategies for the further development of the renewable energy sector in Laos and Thailand will be developed.

The participation for companies and technology providers is free of charge. Register now in the online data base to benefit from the wide dissemination of the project report to investors and government officials.

Whereby, EdL and GOL intend to invest dividends from big scale hydro power project, as Nam Theung 2 and Theung Hinboun in the power sector development.

The PSDP targets the investment of USD 51 million in off-grid electrification. A detailed evaluation of the PSDP and the EdL Power Development Plan was prepared by RESDALAO and can be uploaded on the project homepage: http://www.dgs.de/1388.0.html.
