U.S. agribusiness giant Cargill Inc. (CRG.XX) plans to increase its ethanol exports from Brazil, Chief Financial Officer Luiz Pretti told local financial daily Valor Economico in a report published Tuesday.
Pretti said Cargill will export up to 600 million liters of ethanol from Brazil, up from 500 million liters in 2005, the report said. He also said the company will export to a broad range of locations.
Cargill has invested heavily in ethanol exports from Brazil in recent years. The company is a partner in an ethanol export terminal located in the port of Santos as well as an ethanol dehydration plant in the Caribbean basin, which processes Brazilian ethanol for export to the U.S.
Pretti said Cargill is always looking for investment opportunities in Brazil, Valor reported.
Brazil is the world’s largest ethanol exporter.
