Carbiolice receives the GreenTech Innovation label by the French Ministry of Ecological Transition

Carbiolice, a French start-up that has developed a revolutionary technology making plastic of plant origin 100% compostable, has just received the GreenTech Innovation label from the French Ministry of Ecological Transition

This is a very important award and recognition for the company, attesting that the solution designed by Carbiolice is both innovative and has strong growth potential, and contributes to the acceleration of the ecological transition. Carbiolice is one of the 45 start-ups selected in 2021 and thus joins the very select network of 170 companies awarded the GreenTech Innovation label since its creation.

An innovative solution to a major ecological challenge

79% of the world’s plastic ends its life, after an often useful but brief use, piled up in landfills or dumped in nature for decades of pollution. The direct consequence of this end-of-life of plastic is that 8.3 million tons of plastic leak into the oceans each year and if nothing changes, by 2050 there will be more plastic than fish…

Convinced that solutions can be found to rethink the end of life of plastics, Carbiolice has made this it’s purpose. Its teams have developed and designed, after only 4 years of research, an innovative enzymatic technology that accelerates the natural biodegradation of plastics of plant origin. This French innovation, unique on a global scale, is commercialized under the name Evanesto®, an additive that allows PLA-based plastic, a bioplastic of plant origin, to be fully composted, even at home.

Evanesto® thus ensures a responsible end-of-life for packaging that is currently not recycled because it is too thin, too complex, or soiled by food.

With this innovation, food packaging (yoghurt pots, trays, pods, etc.) and technical packaging (film, bubble wrap, etc.) can, for example, join apple peelings and coffee grounds in a composter. In less than 200 days, bioplastics are transformed into compost like food waste, without residue or toxicity.
This innovative product, 100% made in France, for which Carbiolice has already filed 18 patents with international coverage, is a world first!

GreenTech Innovation to support the launch

After conducting a series of tests on product lines and studies with certified organisations, Carbiolice is now launching the commercialization of its revolutionary solution.

“Our entry into the very selective community of GreenTech Innovation label holders is a very good recognition of our French innovation to accelerate the ecological transition. This will allow us, among other things, to benefit from the support of all the partners in the initiative. Thanks to the Ministry’s recognition, we will benefit from the visibility of its many partners: grandes écoles, major groups, competitiveness clusters, etc. Their support will be particularly valuable in helping us to accelerate the deployment of our solution. It is also a great network to facilitate the recruitment of young talents committed to the ecological transition.” explains Nadia Auclair, President of Carbiolice.
