Within the framework of the Cellulose Fibres Conference 2025, the nova-Institute together with the Innovation Award sponsor GIG Karasek, is looking for the “Cellulose Fibre Innovation of the Year 2025”. Innovations in the field of biosynthetics are also welcome to apply.

The Innovation Award – one of the highlights of the conference

As we know from previous conferences, there are many technological developments and new products around cellulose fibres. The Cellulose Fibres Conference wants to give them a stage. This time, the nova-Institute is also inviting all researchers in the field of biosynthetics to apply. To further reduce the use of fossil-based synthetic fibres, cellulose and bio-based polymer fibres (“biosynthetics”) are an excellent option due to their wide range of properties, making them suitable to replace almost all fossil-based synthetic fibres. The technology and capacity of cellulose fibres and biosynthetics needs to be developed, and the award gives the start-ups the opportunity to gain publicity and possibly find industrial collaborators. As the world grapples with the environmental impact of traditional textile production, there is a growing demand for more sustainable alternatives, especially from brands that consumers trust and recognise as leaders. Two key players in this shift are cellulose fibres and biosynthetics, both of which are transforming the industry by offering sustainable solutions without compromising quality or performance.

The Future of Sustainable Textiles

The integration of cellulose fibres and biosynthetics into the textile industry marks a significant step towards sustainability. As consumers become more environmentally conscious, the demand for sustainable textiles is likely to grow, driving further innovation in these areas.

Cellulose fibres and biosynthetics are not just alternatives; they are paving the way for a more sustainable future in fashion and textiles. By reducing dependence on non-renewable resources and minimising environmental impact, these materials are helping to create a more responsible and environmentally friendly industry. The future of textiles lies in balancing between performance, aesthetics, and sustainability, and cellulose fibres and biosynthetics are at the forefront of this transformation.

Let us know about your fibre innovation! Are you ready to show it to the world’s experts? The application form is open until 30 November 2024.

The Cellulose Fibres Conference 2025 – New with Biosynthetics

Taking place on 12-13 March 2025 in Cologne, Germany, this conference has become a key platform for discussing and sharing the latest innovations in sustainable fibres. With a focus on cellulose fibres and, for the first time, a dedicated sessions on biosynthetics, the conference will cover the entire spectrum of sustainable solutions in the textile industry – the entire value chain, from raw materials to cutting-edge applications. By bringing together global experts, the event plays a vital role in driving the industry towards greater sustainability and circularity, in line with EU regulations and market demand.
