The Horizon Europe project BioReCer (Biological Resources Certifications Schemes) is frequently organising regional events in order to collect opinions, ideas and views of stakeholders that are interested in alternatives to fossil resources by making use of organic waste feedstock/residues from agriculture, fisheries and forestry, as well municipal organic waste and wastewater. The invaluable stakeholders’ input is implemented in the development of BioReCer tools and guidelines for closing the gaps in current certification schemes for bio-based value-chains.
In the upcoming stakeholder event in October, the BioReCer consortium will present key project outcomes focusing on tools and frameworks aimed at enhancing bio-based circular economy practices. Highlights of the event includes the launch of an Open Standards Research Tool (Standardisation Toolkit) designed to support the standardisation process in bio-based sectors. The event will also showcase the innovative BioReCer ICT tool that facilitates data collection and decision-making and offers a comprehensive set of intrinsic circularity indicators tailored to each actor in the bio-based value chain, enabling the evaluation of their products’ circularity performance in accordance with the most recent state-of-the-art practices, as well as an assessment framework to evaluate sustainability, circularity and compliance with certification schemes.
The event is open and free-of-charge for all interested stakeholders to foster collaboration, innovation and sustainability across the European research landscape and the bio-based industries. The stakeholders’ profit from participating by learning more about how to tackle challenges regarding certification and valorisation of biological waste feedstock. They will understand why biological waste is valuable and not only a burden and how it can add to a sustainable industrial development. In this event, stakeholders can join forces to strengthen their influence on EU policy-making to support a sustainable EU prioritising environment, society and economy.
The event will be hybrid, but the participation in person is strongly recommended:

BioReCer Biography
BioReCer (Biological Resources Certifications Schemes) aims at assessing and complementing current certification schemes for biological resources according to the new EU sustainability goals to enhance bio-based circular systems.
This will be achieved by including new criteria that align with EU taxonomy and EU corporate due diligence regulations into guidelines for certifying biological resources’ sustainability, origin, tracking and traceability (T&T), and by ensuring applicability at EU and global scale.
By promoting the sustainability and trade of biological resources, BioReCer will increase the added value, use, as well as social acceptance of bio-based products.
