This walkway manages to prevent the emission of 150 kg of CO2 every day by promoting the use of sustainable transport. It enables the residents of Seville and Abengoa’s nearly 3,000 employees to access Campus Palmas Altas via bicycle or on foot, avoiding the use of private vehicles.

The walkway, like the company’s corporate headquarters, was designed by the prestigious architect Richard Rogers and the Spanish architecture firm Vidal y Asociados Arquitectos. It consists of a large bridge that is 80 meters long and 3.20 meters wide over the SE-30 highway. The project combines high quality materials with an innovative design and is protected by a steel wire mesh.

The walkway allows both pedestrians and cyclists to cross the SE-30 in safety, while also promoting sustainable mobility. It has also been specifically designed for people with reduced mobility.

The walkway not only benefits people that travel to Campus Palmas Altas every day, but all of Seville’s residents since after it was constructed, Abengoa donated it to the city.

Abengoa is also building a road to improve access by public buses to the Campus Palmas Altas area so that the company’s headquarters become an integrated part of the city structure, connected to the city’s bus network.
