Acies Bio, an European biotechnology company specializing in microbial biotechnology and precision fermentation, today announced continued progress in the expansion of its biomanufacturing infrastructure. Commissioning of the company’s new large-scale fermentation facility with 30 m3 fermentation vessel is planned in Q4 2026 and construction is advancing on schedule, with key equipment milestones successfully achieved.

The expansion represents a significant step in enhancing Acies Bio’s ability to support partners across the full development pathway — from early process optimization to demonstration-scale and industrial deployment. Once commissioned, the new 30 m3 fermentation facility will further strengthen the company’s capacity to deliver flexible, end-to-end biomanufacturing solutions for a broad range of applications, including sustainable biochemicals, agricultural biotechnology, food and nutrition, and specialty biomolecules.

Beyond increased capacity, the investment also reinforces Acies Bio’s strategic role within the European bioeconomy by enabling more localized production. By expanding its regional manufacturing footprint, the company aims to help partners to accelerate time-to-market for innovative bio-based products and with this reduce supply-chain risks and improve security of supply.

“The expansion strengthens our ability to support customers with technologically advanced scale-up and contract manufacturing services closer to their markets,” said dr. Štefan Fujs, director at Acies Bio. “At the same time, it contributes to building more resilient and sustainable biomanufacturing infrastructure in Europe.”

“Early commercial engagement has been strong, showing that growing demand for flexible and regional accessible precision fermentation capabilities in Europe is lacking,” said dr. Martin Kavšček, Head of Business Development.

With biomanufacturing upgrade Acies Bio will complete the development cycle focused on expansion of biomanufacturing capabilities towards contract manufacturing services. Development cycle started in 2021 with an addition of 6,5 m3 fermentation volume intended primarily for scale-up of innovative microbial technologies.
