Syensqo announced today the launch of Re2 Coffea Arabica Peptide, a new scalp care active developed by Bota Biosciences. This achievement reflects the strength of the strategic partnership established between the two companies in 2025 and highlights their shared ambition to bring breakthrough, science-driven solutions to the personal care market.
Re2 Coffea Arabica Peptide is derived from upcycled coffee grounds responsibly sourced from a coffee plantation in Pu’er, Yunnan, China. In addition to supporting overall scalp health, the solution is designed to meet growing consumer demand for scalp hydration and soothing, currently the top benefits sought in scalp care, supporting the broader shift toward skin care–inspired approaches in hair care.
The ingredient’s performance is built into its peptide design. Bota leveraged its integrated physical AI-driven Biofoundry platform to screen natural coffee proteins and identify the peptide sequences that are most beneficial for scalp health. Peptides of interest were produced through enzymatic digestion1 and combined into Re2 Coffea Arabica Peptide, an ingredient designed to deliver multiple scalp benefits, including improved hydration and softness, enhanced barrier function, reduced Transepidermal Water Loss (TEWL) and redness, and anti-inflammatory activity.
With Re2 Coffea Arabica Peptide, we continue to expand our hair actives portfolio in line with our strategy. This sustainably sourced, AI-developed ingredient delivers multifunctional benefits for scalp health, enabling brands to address multiple consumer needs with a single solution. It sets a new benchmark for holistic scalp performance that remains unique in today’s market. – Vincent Miralles, Hair Care Global Segment Leader at Syensqo.
The launch of Re2 Coffea Arabica Peptide marks a step forward in Syensqo and Bota Biosciences’ collaboration and demonstrates the commercial readiness of Bota’s physical-AI-driven Biofoundry platform. Together, Syensqo, supported by its Renewable Materials & Biotechnology platform, and Bota Biosciences are unlocking new possibilities in the hair and scalp care market through science.
