Potential breakthroughs in industrial biotech in the UK could see it become a £12bn industry by 2025, but a lack of investment and active opposition to genetically modified (GM) must be overcome if the sector is to reach its potential.
That is the view of Jonathon Porritt, one of the UK’s leading environmentalists, who has published a report today detailing the opportunities available for new bio-based energy sources, transport fuels, or chemicals.
