The SIRA translates the ambitions of BIC\u00a0and other major actors in the bio-based sector\u00a0into a set of actions for developing sustainable and competitive bio-based industries in Europe.\u00a0(more about the current SIRA 2020\u00a0here).\u00a0These ambitions are documented in the Vision: \u2018The circular bio-society in 2050\u2019.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In order to set the SIRA 2030,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/biconsortium.eu\/sites\/biconsortium.eu\/files\/documents\/BIC%20taskforces%20for%202030%20SIRA.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">four taskforces\u00a0have been created<\/a> and categorised into the following areas:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Taskforce 1:\u00a0Integrating feedstock into bio-based value chains<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Taskforce 2:\u00a0Integrating operations within bio-based value chains<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Taskforce 3:\u00a0Integrating markets &amp; society into bio-based value chains<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Taskforce 4: Integrating investments into an inclusive bioeconomy<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A detailed list of the taskforces and the topics being covered by each can be consulted\u00a0here.<\/p>\n<p>The members of the taskforces include BIC members and also representatives across the fifteen industry associations who are signatories of the 2050 &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/biconsortium.eu\/sites\/biconsortium.eu\/files\/documents\/Vision%20for%20a%20circular%20bio-society%202050.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Vision for a circular bio-society&#8221;<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The work of the four different taskforces is linked with the\u00a0four key drivers\u00a0identified in the <a href=\"https:\/\/biconsortium.eu\/sites\/biconsortium.eu\/files\/documents\/Vision%20for%20a%20circular%20bio-society%202050.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">industry&#8217;s 2050\u00a0Vision<\/a>. The SIRA 2030 will seek to put in place the actions needed\u00a0to achieve this circular bio-society\u00a0with milestones for these actions in 2030.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Driver 1:\u00a0Fostering food security for a growing world population and\u00a0demand for sustainable products<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Driver 2: Contributing\u00a0to a sustainable planet<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Driver 3:\u00a0Create jobs and growth in the circular bioeconomy<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Driver 4: Achieve a circular bioeconomy society<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The process will include two major surveys with review cycles with the taskforces. This first \u2018run\u2019 will establish actions and milestones for 2030 on our way to 2050. Each taskforce will then review its collective results and will also receive the highlights of the other taskforces to possibly \u2018enrich\u2019 its review reactions.<\/p>\n<p>In a second survey \u2018run\u2019, each taskforce will be asked to help formulate key performance indicators (KPI) for the milestones. We will herewith apply the SMART principle: specific, measurable, achievable, relevant and time bound.<\/p>\n<p>A BIC-led coordination and editing team will compose the drafts and the final version of the SIRA 2030 for approval by the BIC board by the of end 2019.
