A live stream will be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/susancollins\/\" target=\"_blank\">available online.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The new partnership will harness Oak Ridge\u2019s leadership in additive manufacturing and UMaine\u2019s expertise with bio-based composites to advance efforts to 3D print with wood, creating a new market for Maine\u2019s forest products industry.<\/p>\n<p>Collins and King have been active in encouraging this type of collaboration between Maine\u2019s forest products industry and leading researchers. In 2016, they called on the U.S. Department of Commerce <a href=\"https:\/\/www.collins.senate.gov\/newsroom\/collins-king-call-commerce-department-spearhead-economic-development-efforts-rural-maine\" target=\"_blank\">to establish the Economic Development Assessment Team (EDAT)<\/a>, that would work across agencies and sectors to create strategies for job growth and economic development in Maine\u2019s rural communities. EDAT\u2019s work led directly to this partnership between UMaine and ORNL.<\/p>\n<p>The $20 million effort, funded by Department of Energy\u2019s Advanced Manufacturing Office, aims to strengthen regional manufacturing by connecting university\u2013industry clusters with the Manufacturing Demonstration Facility at ORNL.
