Pia is nova`s conducting researcher for the national project BioCOnversion coordinated by CLIB2021 and is also involved in the EU funded project BioRECO<sub>2<\/sub>VER. Both projects are dealing with the conversion of syngas or CO<sub>2<\/sub> to value added chemicals. In addition, she is mainly responsible for the annually updated market report on \u201cBio-based Building Blocks and Polymers \u2013 Global Capacities, Production and Trends\u201d.<\/p>\n<h3>Background and expertise<\/h3>\n<p>Pia is trained as a biologist and has several years of research experience in optimisation of microbial cell factories, enzyme engineering and enzyme-catalysed polymerisation. After receiving her PhD in biology in 2016 from the Heinrich Heine University of Duesseldorf, she did a one-year postdoctoral research at the University of Groningen in Macromolecular and Polymer chemistry.
