Here are 10 of the most\u00a0stomach-churning examples, featuring\u00a0blood, sweat and tears (plus urine and\u00a0hair).<\/p>\n<p>This Is Not A V\u00e4rdera by Krisztina Czika<br \/>\nKrisztina Czika is one of several designers exploring how human hair can be used as the base material for products.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0Hungarian designer made a collection of 15 mugs from wax and\u00a0human hair harvested from four donors, including herself, as part of the DesignLab course at\u00a0Gerrit Rietveld Academie.<\/p>\n<p>Find out more about This Is Not A V\u00e4rdera \u203a<\/p>\n<p>Human Hair Transformation by Zsofia Kollar<\/p>\n<p>Also working with human hair, Zsofia Kollar has created a series of\u00a0scented\u00a0objects, including a golden wall hanging and a U-shaped necklace.<\/p>\n<p>Kollar wanted to show that there are alternative uses for the large amounts of human hair that are thrown out each year.<\/p>\n<p>Find out more about Human Hair Transformation \u203a<\/p>\n<p>Urine Ware by\u00a0Sinae Kim<\/p>\n<p>Sinae Kim chose to demonstrate the potential to recycle another item of human waste, urine, in this collection of decorative vessels inspired by the shape of the human bladder.<\/p>\n<p>The Central Saint Martins\u00a0graduate coated the ceramics with a glaze made from\u00a0280 litres\u00a0of human urine, which was collected from five people over a period of five months.<\/p>\n<p>Find out more about Urine Ware \u203a<\/p>\n<p>Selfmade by Christina Agapakis\u00a0and\u00a0Sissel Tolaas<\/p>\n<p>American scientist\u00a0Christina Agapakis\u00a0and Norwegian scent expert\u00a0Sissel Tolaas\u00a0collected bacteria from\u00a0artist Olafur Eliasson&#8217;s tears, curator Hans Ulrich Obrist&#8217;s nose and chef Michael Pollan&#8217;s belly button to make human cheese.<\/p>\n<p>The cheeses formed part of an exhibition about\u00a0synthetic biology\u00a0in Dublin.<\/p>\n<p>Find out more about Selfmade \u203a<\/p>\n<p>Hair Glasses by\u00a0Studio Swine<\/p>\n<p>Made from human hair bound\u00a0with natural resin, this range of glasses was designed by\u00a0Azusa Murakami and Alexander Groves for their\u00a0Royal College of Art graduate show in 2011.<\/p>\n<p>The pair, known as Studio Swine, revisited the process in 2014\u00a0to create a range of accessories\u00a0including combs and vases.<\/p>\n<p>Find out more about Hair Glasses \u203a<\/p>\n<p>Perspire by Alice Potts<\/p>\n<p>Alice Potts used human sweat as the starting point for her\u00a0Royal College of Art project this year.<\/p>\n<p>The designer encrusted a series of\u00a0garments, including ballet shoes and a sports jersey, in crystals made from the sweat.<\/p>\n<p>Find out more about Perspire \u203a<\/p>\n<p>Pissjar Sans by\u00a0Pissjar<\/p>\n<p>Swedish\u00a0hardcore band Pissjar took inspiration from their name to create a\u00a0typeface\u00a0made entirely from their own urine.<\/p>\n<p>According to the artists, the appropriately named Pissjar Sans takes inspiration from the &#8220;dirty disruption&#8221; created by punk music.<\/p>\n<p>Find out more about Pissjar Sans \u203a<\/p>\n<p>Drawing Blood by\u00a0Ted Lawson<\/p>\n<p>Human blood was the material of choice for\u00a0Ted Lawson. The artist connected himself to a painting machine that used a &#8220;significant amount&#8221; of his own blood as ink to draw a nude portrait of himself.<\/p>\n<p>The artwork\u00a0was created as part of a series Lawson created using Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) machines.<\/p>\n<p>Find out more about Drawing Blood \u203a<\/p>\n<p>Wiggy by\u00a0Oksana Bondar<\/p>\n<p>Another designer experimenting with potential uses for waste human hair, Kingston School of Art graduate Oksana Bondar created a dressing table stool\u00a0from the material.<\/p>\n<p>Bondar combined three weeks worth of hair cuttings from her local salon with Polylactic Acid (PLA) \u2013 a biodegradable plastic made from corn starch or sugar cane \u2013 to create the biodegradable stool.<\/p>\n<p>Find out more about Wiggy \u203a<\/p>\n<p>The Colour of Hair by\u00a0Fabio Hendry and\u00a0Martijn Rigter<\/p>\n<p>London-based designers Fabio Hendry and\u00a0Martijn Rigters used human hair to create a type of sustainable ink to print patterns on a set of aluminium\u00a0stools.<\/p>\n<p>The patterns were created by placing the\u00a0offcuts from local hairdressers on the heated up aluminium, which makes it carbonise and\u00a0penetrate the material.<\/p>\n<p>Find out more about The Colour of Hair \u203a<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Designers are increasingly looking to the human body when finding materials for their creations.
