Sc., joined the nova-Institute in 2017, working in the sustainability department. With his background in energy process engineering and life cycle assessment, Andreas Scharf supports the nova-Institute in the area of life cycle assessments of bio-based chemicals and materials as well as processes.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-51991\" src=\"https:\/\/renewable-carbon.eu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Scharf-Andreas_schnitt.jpg\" alt=\"Scharf-Andreas_schnitt\" width=\"148\" height=\"182\" \/>Tasks at nova-Institute<\/h3>\n<p>Besides supporting various companies with sustainability analysis, Andreas is also involved in several European projects on bio-based economy. For instance, in the AFTERLIFE project (Horizon2020), aiming to recover and convert wastewater into value-added polymers like PHA. Andreas will conduct a life cycle analysis of the AFTERLIFE process to identify environmental hotspots of the pilot scale process.<br \/>\nAndreas is also involved in SuperBio, a Horizon2020 innovation project that aims to develop new, innovative, cross-border and cross-sectorial industrial value chains in the bio-based economy.<\/p>\n<h3>Background and expertise<\/h3>\n<p>Andreas Scharf studied energy process engineering at the University of Offenburg and completed a master called \u201cLife Cycle and Sustainability at the University of Pforzheim, where he also worked in the Institute of Industrial Ecology. In his bachelor thesis he made a product-LCA for the technology and market leader in the area of mechanized tunnelling systems.
