Most investment is going to the core of the bioeconomy: bio-based building blocks and platform chemicals. The capacities show a two-digit yearly growth. Based on this, new building blocks, new bio-based polymers, coatings, surfactants and others will follow. “For the conference, we were able to get the ten leading companies worldwide to Cologne – a unique opportunity to meet the pioneers in the field at one place”, says Michael Carus, Managing Director of organizer nova-Institute. In addition the latest market data and policy trends will be presented at the conference by international experts.

In the tradition of supporting promising technologies and innovative ideas, the Bio-based Materials Conference will again feature two items on its agenda dedicated to this cause:

The start-up session supports young companies with networking and cooperation opportunities and connects them to potential partners from industry and finance. Several start-ups will show their latest development and are looking for industrial partners. Start-ups wishing to participate can still send a document presenting their product, process, used feedstock and target markets to achim.raschka@nova-institut.de and also highlight the real innovation and the benefits of the product/technology.

The prestigious innovation award “Bio-based Material of the Year 2017” will be awarded for the tenth time. The advisory board will make a preselection of all applications and narrow the field down to a “Top 6” new materials and products. The final decision will be made by the conference participants after the nominees presented their innovations.
