SuperBIO selects promising value chain ideas which are submitted by companies or other industrial stakeholders and is committed to support SMEs in constructing their value chain. In addition, SuperBIO offers 10 innovation services to SMEs that are part of validated value chains. These service are funded by the project for 75%, 25% needs to be financed by the company. The SME can select multiple services with a maximal total value of \u20ac 60 000.

In the Zelcor project on utilization of lignin- and humin-rich side-streams from industrial processes the concept is to combine chemical and enzymatic catalysis with insects-based biological conversion via termites within a biorefinery integrated approach. Zelcor is a 6.7M\u20ac collaborative project led by INRA with18 organisations from 8 countries, including 6 academia, 8 SMEs, and 3 corporations. The nova-Institut partners in this project in the sustainability assessment and the dissemination activities.

Managing Director, nova-Institut GmbH<\/h4>\n

Michael Carus was born on 15 October 1956 in Cologne, Germany. At the end of 1994, he and five other scientists founded the nova-Institut GmbH \u2013 nova-Institute for Ecology and Innovation. Ever since the beginning, Carus has been involved in the company as owner and one of two Managing Directors. From six employees back then, nova-Institute has grown to employing about 30 people by now.
\nSince then, the bio-based economy is the main area of Michael Carus\u2019s work. The decision to focus completely on industrial material use of biomass was taken early.

Michael Carus wurde am 15. Oktober 1956 in K\u00f6ln geboren. Ende 1994 gr\u00fcndete Carus mit f\u00fcnf anderen Wissenschaftlern die nova-Institut GmbH \u2013 nova-Institut f\u00fcr politische und \u00f6kologische Innovation \u2013 und fungiert seitdem als Eigent\u00fcmer und einer von zwei Gesch\u00e4ftsf\u00fchrern.
