Renault is the first European car maker to use MCC\u2019s Durabio bio-based engineering plastic<\/p>\n<p>The MCC resin is a bio-based engineering plastic made from plant-derived isosorbide. It is claimed to offer higher resistance to impact, heat and weather than conventional engineering plastics.<\/p>\n<p>Additional benefits include ease of colouring \u2013 MCC suggests that Durabio can be simply mixed with pigment to create glossy, high reflective surfaces \u2013 as well its hardness, enhancing durability and scratch resistance; eliminating the need for a coating process<\/p>\n<p>Renault selected Durabio after a careful evaluation that showed the material to be equal or superior to conventional materials (for decorative parts painted high-gloss black) in terms of aesthetics, technical performance, and cost effectiveness.<\/p>\n<p>As a result of this, MCC said it would build on this opportunity to expand sales of Durabio in Europe.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>French automobile manufacturer Renault has begun using a bio-based engineering plastic for the outer mask of the speedometer-tachometer combo for the dashboard of the Clio.
