The Digest released the early-voting totals from Subscriber Voting \u2014 which do not yet include Social Votes\u00a0or Invited International Selector\u00a0votes.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3>The Rise of Fresh Faces<\/h3>\n<p>Companies such as AltAir Fuels, Impossible Foods, Caribou Biosystems, Ripple Foods, Clara Foods, Hampton Creek, Industrial Microbes, Zymergen, Bolt Threads, Gen9, Arzeda, Sustainability Consult and Beyond Meat were making strong runs in early subscriber voting as attention shifted among Digest readers to microbe development platforms and advanced nutrition.<\/p>\n<p>In all, more than 60% of the companies currently in the preliminary rankings in the balloting have not previously appeared in the Hot 40.<\/p>\n<h3>View the leaders so far<\/h3>\n<p>The complete preliminary leaders can be seen here.<\/p>\n<h3>Voting Closes October 15th<\/h3>\n<p>On October 15th, voting closes. At that point, Social Votes and Invited International Selector Ballots will be combined with the Subscriber votes to generate the Hot 40.<\/p>\n<h3>Social Voting<\/h3>\n<p>This year, Social Voting has been expanded to permit voting via Facebook and Instagram \u2014 with substantial bonuses for creative photo voting.
