{"id":36786,"date":"2016-08-24T07:23:35","date_gmt":"2016-08-24T05:23:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rss.nova-institut.net\/public.php?url=https%3A%2F%2Filbioeconomista.com%2F2016%2F08%2F16%2Fin-canada-a-new-centre-for-commercialization-of-sustainable-chemistry-innovation%2F"},"modified":"2016-08-24T09:03:19","modified_gmt":"2016-08-24T07:03:19","slug":"in-canada-a-new-centre-for-commercialization-of-sustainable-chemistry-innovation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/renewable-carbon.eu\/news\/in-canada-a-new-centre-for-commercialization-of-sustainable-chemistry-innovation\/","title":{"rendered":"In Canada a new Centre for Commercialization of Sustainable Chemistry Innovation"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure style=\"width: 519px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ilbioeconomista.files.wordpress.com\/2016\/08\/navdeep-bains.jpg?w=636\" alt=\"The Minister Navdeep Bains\" width=\"519\" height=\"292\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Minister Navdeep Bains<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>Bioindustrial Innovation Canada (BIC) has launched the creation of the $27 million Centre for Commercialization of Sustainable Chemistry Innovation (COMM SCI) through a $12 Million non-repayable contribution from the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario\u2019s (FedDev Ontario) Investing in Regional Diversification (IRD) initiative, a $3 Million grant from the Province of Ontario and a minimum $12 Million in matching contributions from BIC and their partners.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Based within Canada\u2019s first Hybrid Chemistry Cluster in Sarnia, Ontario, at the doorsteps of Ontario\u2019s chemistry, energy and agriculture heartland, COMM SCI will be the Ontario anchor and hub for the commercialization and collaboration of new clean technologies and technology companies in sustainable chemistry based and bio-based innovation.<\/p>\n<p>Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for FedDev Ontario, made the announcement last week at The Western Sarnia-Lambton Research Park in Sarnia, Ontario. He stated, \u201cThe most innovative solutions often happen when people from different fields collaborate. That\u2019s how the Sarnia-Lambton region will come up with solutions that create a healthy environment, as well as a healthy economy \u2013 one that has a promising future in clean and energy efficient technologies that improve the quality of life of all Canadians.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>With that focus in mind, the BIC board of directors\u2019 recently reviewed BIC\u2019s strategic plan.
