Recent figures show that only 6% of the total farm managers in Europe were under 35 years of age.<\/p>\n<p>Agriculture as a source of employment is declining in Europe. Between 2000 and 2015, around 5 million full time jobs in the sector disappeared.<\/p>\n<p>With the new CAP, Europe wants to promote economic growth and job creation. One of the main tools for addressing this challenge lies in 118 rural development programmes, worth over \u20ac99.6 billion.<\/p>\n<p>During the next 6 years, the European Commission hopes to provide:<\/p>\n<p>Business start-up aid worth \u20ac5.3 billion to 170 000 young farmers and 60 000 rural entrepreneurs.<br \/>\nSupport for 3.9 million places in training courses.<br \/>\n1.4 million instances of personalised advice provided to farmers to help improve business performance.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In 2015, around 10 million people were directly employed in the EU agricultural sector, representing 5 % of Europe\u2019s employed.
