{"id":34243,"date":"2016-04-13T07:29:19","date_gmt":"2016-04-13T05:29:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/renewable-carbon.eu\/news\/?p=34243"},"modified":"2016-04-12T13:48:54","modified_gmt":"2016-04-12T11:48:54","slug":"open-bio-workshop-on-eu-ecolabels-to-take-place-in-brussels-in-may","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/renewable-carbon.eu\/news\/open-bio-workshop-on-eu-ecolabels-to-take-place-in-brussels-in-may\/","title":{"rendered":"\u201cOpen-Bio Workshop\u201d on EU Ecolabels to take place in Brussels in May"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Stakeholders interested in the EU\u2019s \u201cOpen-Bio project\u201d (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.biobasedeconomy.eu\" target=\"_blank\">www.biobasedeconomy.eu<\/a>), which is developing methods to determine bio-based content and biodegradability in an effort to accelerate the uptake of certification systems for bio-based products (see PIEWeb of 02.05.2013), are invited to join a workshop on \u201cEU Ecolabel for bio-based products\u201d, to be held in Brussels \/ Belgium on 25 May.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Organised by nova-Institut (Knapsack \/ Germany; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nova-institut.de\" target=\"_blank\">www.nova-institut.de<\/a>), the one-day event will focus on validating the interim results and recommendations. The project itself focuses on how markets for bio-based products can be opened by means of standardisation, labelling and procurement. Topics to be discussed include whether the EU Ecolabel can be extended to explicitly cover bio-based products, if there are conflicts in terms of harmonisation and whether additional criteria are needed to adequately label bio-based products.<\/p>\n<p>The workshop is free of charge but limited to 40 participants.
