The complete bioeconomy (EU-28) created a turnover of 2.1 trillion \u20ac and 18.3 Mio. working places in 2013. When excluding primary production from the numbers, as well as the food and feed section, the energetic and material usage of biomass still created a turnover of 600 billion \u20ac and jobs for 3.2 Mio. employees. About 12% of the organic raw materials used by the European chemical industry was provided by biomass in 2013.
