7 April, Bio-based Start-up Day, Maternushaus, Cologne (DE); expecting 100 participants from finance, industry and the start-up scene<\/p>\n

At the day after the conference, the separate \u201cBio-based Start-up Day\u201d will take place at the same venue for the first time, where eleven start-ups will introduce themselves to players from industry and finance. Additionally, experts from i2i (DE\/USA), nova-Institute (DE), OECD (FR) and ZENIT (DE) will give valuable tips to start-ups and the B.R.A.I.N. AG (DE), a leading European biotechnology company will report on their track from a start-up to the recent stock market launch. The breaks will facilitate effective networking between start-ups on one side and industry and finances on the other side.

A little tidbit at the end: For the first time, comprehensive data is available about the European bioeconomy! nova-Institute has prepared and analysed data about turnover and employment in all sectors of the bioeconomy in a study carried out for the Bio-based Industries Consortium (BIC). The complete bioeconomy (EU-28) created a turnover of 2.1 trillion \u20ac and 18.3 Mio. working places in 2013. When excluding primary production from the numbers, as well as the food and feed section, the energetic and material usage of biomass still created a turnover of 600 billion \u20ac and jobs for 3.2 Mio. employees. About 12% of the organic raw materials used by the European chemical industry was provided by biomass in 2013.
