The project details will be unveiled on March 10 at the leading VDI Congress \u201cPlastics in Automotive Engineering,\u201d Mannheim, Germany.<\/strong><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_33058\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-33058\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-33058 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/renewable-carbon.eu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/IAC-HybridFleeceMolding-Concept-Door1-300x230-300x230.jpg\" alt=\"IAC-HybridFleeceMolding-Concept-Door1-300x230\" width=\"300\" height=\"230\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-33058\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">IAC HybridFleece Molding\u2122 concept door carrier<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>IAC HybridFleece Molding\u2122 is a unique process for combining\u00a0 the pressing of a thermoplastic mixed fiber fleece from \u00a0a natural fiber, glass or recycled carbon fiber with the molding of stiffening ribs and clips into a one step process in the same molding tool with no need for additional welding or gluing. The technology can be used to produce a variety of lightweight structural and visible (A-surface) interior components and is designed to reduce process complexity.<\/p>\n<p>In order to compare IAC HybridFleece Molding\u2122 with conventional processes, IAC produced a door carrier concept and tested it against the serial SUV product it delivers to an OEM customer. In the present case, the concept door carrier delivers a mass reduction of 35 % and \u2013 with regard to its greenhouse potential \u2013 40 % less emissions over the course of its lifetime.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIAC HybridFleece Molding\u2122 and our own EcoMat\u2122 formulations and production exemplify IAC\u2019s viable innovation and vertical integration strategies to provide unique solutions that can be implemented quickly and efficiently within existing processes,\u201d said Fritz Schweindl Director Advanced Engineering for IAC in Europe.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe environmental balance is a very good tool to evaluate advanced technologies such as IAC\u2019s HybridFleece Molding\u2122 and effectively support substitution strategies in lightweight design.
