MHG was awarded based on their broadening sponsored research support and involvement with the University of Georgia\u2019s Engineering faculty, as well as expanding their laboratory footprint in Athens.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are honored to receive this revered award this year for our work with academic institutions and research,\u201d stated Phil Van Trump, Chief Technology Officer of MHG. \u201cOur company has come a long way this past year and our research and laboratories at the University of Georgia and other schools have played a major role in our progress. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with UGA as we advance in the industry.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Last year, the company announced the expansion of their research and development capabilities through an arrangement with UGA, which allowed them to open a specialty lab on campus and gain access to the University\u2019s unique resources to further advance formulas to meet customer\u2019s needs. Additionally, the company contributed $50,000 to Dr. Jenna Jambeck\u2019s research group at UGA, which would be used to test MHG\u2019s PHA and analyze it against other materials in a marine environment.<\/p>\n<p>The Phoenix Award recognizes organizations who focus on education and innovation, while also contributing to the growth of the bioscience industry in the state of Georgia. According to the Metro Atlanta Chamber Bioscience Leadership Council and Georgia Bio, the award represents the legend of the Phoenix \u201crising from the ashes\u201d. The rebirth of the bird is a symbol of strength, tenacity and leadership.<\/p>\n<p>Nearly 300 leaders from Georgia\u2019s Life Sciences Industry come together each year to recognize the achievements and honors in the industry.
