So, Mishek came up with a &#8220;great idea&#8221;\u2014the SelfEco compostable garden pot that contains plant food molded into the pot, which is made from NatureWorks PLA. The plant food\u2014distillers&#8217; grain\u2014is blended into the PLA and feeds the roots to produce healthy plants, which is easier and safer than having to add fertilizer. That also makes the pots biodegradable, according to Mishek.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our material supplier has a certificate from the Biodegradable Products Institute (BPI),&#8221; Mishek told PlasticsToday. &#8220;Throughout the growing season, the material feeds your plants and continues to break down,&#8221; says Mishek. Each scenario is different, as the soil type, amount of water and exposure to sun varies with each plant, he explains. &#8220;Whatever is left after the growing season can be put into a compost bin and taken to an industrial compost facility, or it can be tilled in the garden for the next season. In most situations, the remnants from the pot won&#8217;t interfere or be noticed by the gardener.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Mishek is the founder and President of SelfEco LLC and is excited about his new product. He began his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kickstarter.com\/projects\/1782381964\/selfeco-pot?ref=nav_search\" target=\"_blank\">Kickstarter campaign<\/a> on Jan. 11, and within a few days, Mishek had 139 backers and had reached his $25,000 goal.
