Biol. Achim Raschka is working at nova-Institute since 2008 as staff scientist, in 2013 he became head of the department of technology and markets. He is involved in different national and international research programs concerning the material use of bio-based products and renewable resources, industrial biotechnology and chemical-technical topics, bio-based monomers and sustainable feedstock for industrial processes as well as the area of CO<sub>2<\/sub> capture and utilization (CCU).<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-29141 size-medium alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/renewable-carbon.eu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/Raschka-Achim_a-200x300.jpg\" alt=\"Raschka, Achim_a\" width=\"200\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/renewable-carbon.eu\/news\/media\/2015\/10\/Raschka-Achim_a-200x300.jpg 200w, https:\/\/renewable-carbon.eu\/news\/media\/2015\/10\/Raschka-Achim_a-683x1024.jpg 683w, https:\/\/renewable-carbon.eu\/news\/media\/2015\/10\/Raschka-Achim_a-600x900.jpg 600w, https:\/\/renewable-carbon.eu\/news\/media\/2015\/10\/Raschka-Achim_a.jpg 1400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/>Together with Michael Carus he was founder of the conference on \u201cCO<sub>2<\/sub> as feedstock for fuels, chemicals and polymers\u201d that in these days finished it\u2019s 4<sup>th<\/sup> edition with a remarkable success. Beside this, Achim Raschka is organizing most of the international coordination for research projects in the Horizon2020 framework and other cooperation \u2013 so, for project ideas and offers for cooperation with nova-Institut please contact him.<\/p>\n<h3>Background and expertise:<\/h3>\n<p>Achim Raschka\u00a0studied biology at the Free University in Berlin with a focus on ecology before he worked at the public relations office at the German Human Genome Project (DHGP) in Berlin. After some years as a freelancing lecturer and as publisher of digital media he decided to join nova-Institute to work on a dissemination project on renewable resources in Wikipedia and to built up the working group for Industrial Biotechnology that was the base of the later evolved department of technology and markets.<\/p>\n<h3>Recent and ongoing projects that Achim Raschka has been or is working on include:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>BIO-QED \u2013 Quod Erat Demonstrandum: Large scale demonstration for the bio-based bulk chemical BDO and IA aiming at cost reduction and improved sustainability. An FP7 project in which nova-Institute is conducting an techno-economic evaluation (TEE) and is responsible for dissemination<\/li>\n<li>HEMICELL \u2013 a project within the WoodWisdom-Net Research Programm and ERA-NET Bioenergy. nova-Institute is conduction market research and techno-economic evaluation on wood based chemicals, in particular chemical modified hemicellulose, used as functional additives to enhance the material properties of cellulose esters. It is also responsible for dissemination<\/li>\n<li>IB2 Market \u2013 bringing innovative industrial biotechnology research to the market.
