To\u00a0date, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.geneticliteracyproject.org\/2013\/10\/08\/with-2000-global-studies-confirming-safety-gm-foods-among-most-analyzed-subject-in-science\/\" target=\"_blank\">more than 2000 scientific studies<\/a>\u00a0have assessed the safety of these crops in terms of human health and environmental impact. These studies together with several reviews performed on a case by case from regulatory agencies around the world, have enabled a solid and clear scientific consensus: GM crops have no more\u00a0risk than those that have been developed by conventional breeding techniques.<\/p>\n<p>This document brings together the public statements of\u00a0organizations and scientific institutions that adhere to this consensus. I made an update based on this\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/chilebio.cl\/documentos\/datos_chileb.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">document<\/a> from ChileBio that include\u00a040 official documents representing about 190 institutions.<\/p>\n<p>The update shows that\u00a0244 scientific institutions and organizations recognize the safety of GM crops and their potential benefits. Interestingly a large part of these institutions are located in Europe, the continent that has put more obstacles to the commercialization\u00a0of these crops.
