This event is the world\u2019s largest international industrial biotech event, and this year more than 1,200 industry leaders representing 725 companies came and joined us at this event. We also had attendees from 50 different countries and 37 different states as well as Washington D.C. The attention this event received truly highlights the broad support for this industry. During this 2015 meeting, we hosted more than 1,400 partnering meetings, which is equivalent to a 40% increase from last year\u2019s event and a record from previous World Congress events.<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cFrom our robust plenary sessions, to the record number of partnering meetings, the 2015 World Congress was a resounding success.\u00a0This event continues to provide leaders with the opportunity to showcase the best of the industrial biotech industry and form connections and partnerships that will drive growth in the sector for years to come,\u201d said Brent Erickson, Executive VP, Industrial &amp; Environmental Section at BIO.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Eight individual tracks of educational programing drew in about 300 speakers, and BIO World Congress also offered 48 unique sessions highlighting Renewable Chemicals and Biobased Materials, Specialty Chemicals, Feedstocks, Food &amp; Nutritional Ingredients, Synthetic Biology and Advanced Biofuels and Biorefinery Platforms. Also, this year we had 50 exhibitors at the BIO Exhibition and sold over 7,000 square feet!<\/p>\n<p>World Congress also hosted new, unique programs this year, such as the \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.biotech-now.org\/events\/2015\/07\/glucan-renewables-winner-of-sofinnova-renewable-chemistry-start-up-award\" rel=\"noreferrer\">Renewable Chemistry Start-Up Award<\/a>\u201d held by Sofinnova Partners at the CleanTech Investor Sessions; Sofinnova named Glucan Biorenewables as the winner! We also presented the annual <a href=\"http:\/\/www.biotech-now.org\/environmental-industrial\/2015\/07\/jonathan-wolfson-receives-the-george-washington-carver-award\" rel=\"noreferrer\">George Washington Carver Award<\/a> as well as the Rosalind Franklin Award to Jonathan S.
