The objective of the agreement is to accelerate the development of Liquid Light\u2019s technology which can make mono-ethylene glycol (MEG) from carbon dioxide (CO<sub>2<\/sub>).<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Liquid Light\u2019s approach enables more efficient use of plant material to make MEG. For example, a bio-ethanol production facility could make bio-MEG from the CO<sub>2<\/sub> byproduct that results from converting plant material into ethanol. The technology has the potential to reduce both the environmental footprint and the cost of producing MEG. MEG is one of the components used to make The Coca-Cola Company\u2019s plant-based PET plastic bottle.<\/p>\n<p>Additional details of the agreement are not being disclosed at this time.<\/p>\n<h3>About Liquid Light<\/h3>\n<p>Liquid Light develops and licenses process technology to make major chemicals from low-cost, globally-abundant carbon dioxide (CO<sub>2<\/sub>). Chemical producers have the potential for lower costs and greater sustainability; firms with waste CO<sub>2<\/sub>, like ethanol producers, can turn that waste into revenue; and brands that use large amounts of plastics in their packaging can offer a more sustainably-packaged product.<\/p>\n<p>Liquid Light\u2019s first process is for the production of ethylene glycol (MEG), with a $27 billion annual market. Liquid Light\u2019s core technology is centered on low-energy catalytic electrochemistry to convert CO<sub>2<\/sub> to multi-carbon chemicals.
