The company\u2019s net earnings of $99 million \u2014 down from $143 million for Q1 of 2014 \u2014 is also down from $145 million for the fourth quarter of last year. Doyle Simons, Weyerhaeuser\u2019s CEO, cited a variety of reasons for the dip, including a strengthening U.S. dollar challenging the cellulose fibers business and disruptions at ports up and down the West Coast.<\/p>\n<p>And while the company\u2019s 2Q outlook lists lower earnings expectations from its timberlands and cellulose fibers segments, Weyerhaeuser projects the aforementioned significant bump in its wood products earnings.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe company anticipates seasonally higher sales volumes across all product lines and average sales realizations for lumber and oriented strand board comparable to the first quarter,\u201d its outlook statement said. \u201cThe company also expects lower Western log costs and lower per unit manufacturing costs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The company is looking to bounce back before it pulls up stakes from its Federal Way campus.
