WILMINGTON, Del., Dec. 11, 2014 \u2013 DuPont Industrial Biosciences and EcoStrateSFS, Inc. signed a cooperative agreement establishing the first post-consumer recycling program for commercial and residential carpet made with DuPont\u2122 Sorona\u00ae renewably sourced fiber.<\/strong>

\nThe two companies will work together to develop and commercialize products using recovered post-consumer carpet made with DuPont\u2122 Sorona\u00ae fiber. EcoStrate\u00ae, currently a manufacturer of signage, promotional items and mud flaps, also is exploring other applications including ballistics testing, flooring, shipping crates, pallets and building materials.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a biobased material, the sustainability advantages of DuPont\u2122 Sorona\u00ae in carpets have been recognized globally,\u201d said John Lyons, global business development manager for DuPont\u2122 Sorona\u00ae. \u201cWhile post-industrial recycling of DuPont\u2122 Sorona\u00ae has been practiced for years, we also have focused on identifying post-consumer recycling solutions for carpet made with DuPont\u2122 Sorona\u00ae. We believe that EcoStrate\u00ae has an innovative program and our collaboration will be a benefit to both the carpet and recycling industries. With end of carpet life options in place, consumers and specifiers of carpet made with Sorona\u00ae will feel even better about their choice of carpets.<\/p>\n

DuPont\u2122 Sorona\u00ae fiber is made in part from annually renewable plant-based ingredients and is used primarily in fiber applications, including fiber for textiles used in apparel and home, office and automotive interiors, and fiber for carpet including residential, commercial and automotive carpets and mats.<\/p>\n
