This environmentally friendly form of sheet piling is made verge cuttings and hot Plant Pole. On Wednesday, March 4th at 13:30 hit Ard van der Tuuk, Deputy of the Province of Drenthe, the first Pole Plant in the ground. This occurred in a tributary of the Orange Canal to the Holsdiek Orvelte. If pilot is here 30 meters hardwood sheet piling replaced by sustainable timbering Plant Pole.

The three organizations mow every year 800,000 pounds of grass along the walkanten. Previously clippings lay along the side here and got the water boards nothing in return. Halfway through last year, cooperation was sought by small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to look for opportunities to reuse this green waste as raw material. The Chamber of Commerce brought the water boards at the table with the company Millvision from Waalwijk. This company specializes in developing innovative and sustainable production and thus arose the product Plant Pole. This durable product could eventually make the (cutting) work of the water boards cheaper, which also benefits the taxpayer.

Connector

The Chamber of Commerce (CoC) is the connector in the project and has played a crucial role in bringing together the various parties: water authorities, universities and industry. The Chamber of Commerce wants to support and encourage SMEs. With this in mind, the Chamber of Commerce, on behalf of the Province of Drenthe and in cooperation with the NOM, the top program developed Drenthe. The Chamber of Commerce is to stimulate the development of the regional economy by Drenthe entrepreneurs to advance with innovation and growth. This is made possible by funding from the Province of Drenthe. The top program, there is scope to involve Drenthe entrepreneurs in the project Plant Pole. There are already several Drent companies engaged in, for example, the cutting and the manufacture of the pallets for the piles.

Green chemistry

The unique product Plant Pole is a shining example of green chemistry in practice. This is very interesting for students of the Stenden University in Emmen. They get the opportunity to work with raw materials from their own region, which are increasingly important in the transition to green chemistry. Next year the students keep an eye on how the research poles abide in and above water. The posts should have a lifespan of 25 years.

The project is funded by the three organizations and supported by a financial contribution from the Province of Drenthe.

The water boards Reest and Wieden, Hunze and Aa’s and Fight Flows in cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce, the company Mill Vison and Stenden University Emmen developed a unique and green product for sheet piling.
